First of all I want to write down a few quick notes about what has happened during this pregnancy.
On December 20, 2010 my water broke with Baby A. We were at the ER by 4:00 am. And yes, my mother even came with us. I think Colter was a little nervous, he wanted to wake her up to see if she would come. After spending four hours in the ER they determined that the water had broke on Baby A and they were going to move me to Labor and Delivery. Labor and Delivery? I am not having these babies yet! They got us settled into our room, and Dr. Hall came in. He told us that we had a 80% chance of delivering within the first week. He wasn't very positive. He said if I don't go into labor, then I will get an infection. If I have an infection, then I will have a fever. If I have a fever then "it is all over." Really? I was scared. Since I was only 17 weeks, the babies would not make it if I were to deliver. Babies are not viable until 24 weeks. Colter and my dad gave me a blessing. It is amazing how a blessing opens up your view, and it isn't just what matters here on Earth anymore. Amazing. This is where my three day stay at the hospital comes in. The nurses were all really nice, and I really did like Dr. Hall, I just didn't like his statistics. They would come in every two hours, at least and take my temperature. What a miracle, my temperature was always okay. Colter stayed right by my side. He even slept in the room with me. Thankfully Whitney and BJ brought Colter some blankets that were long enough for him. The sheets they gave him covered about half of him. I got so many nice text from everyone. Colter finally took my phone away because each time my phone would beep, I would read it and start crying. When I cry it makes my temperature go up, and we all get a little worried. On Tuesday we were told we could leave on Wednesday. Yay! Except I didn't have any clothes to wear home, and no socks! My mom stayed at the hospital while Colter ran to the mall to purchase me some clothes:) What a good guy. My family was so good to us. They would come and go, and it was so nice to see them. My Grandma Lott came and visited for a while. And I was surprised to see my Aunt Nita and Linsey. My mom had made it clear to people that there were to be no visitors, again because I would start crying. I'll admit it, I'm a baby. Before leaving, Dr. Hall came in and told me he would be happy to care for me if I stayed in Idaho Falls. He gave me his cell number and told me to call if I had questions, no matter the time. Gosh, that was nice. I was told to do as much bedrest "as humanly possible." I was given instructions that if I start having contractions, or a fever to come back in. The next month was spent either at my parents house, or at home. Yes, I take my temperature a million times a day. We feel so blessed. Each time we go in for an ultrasound, they are amazed that I still have these babies. I can't take all the credit, because if it wasn't for my husband and our families, I would be up making dinner or doing laundry, etc. Colter and I know that these are trials we are given. We know that Heavenly Father is aware of our prayers. We know that this is God's plan, not ours. We are very thankful for all of the prayers, text, emails, visitors, meals, etc etc etc.
And here is a picture at 24 weeks. This is the day we had been waiting for...the day we never thought would come...the day our babies are considered viable!!! Of course we hope we make it beyond 24 weeks, for the sake of the babies health.
I can not believe I am putting that picture on here. Remember, I am on bedrest so hair and makeup don't count. This was on one of my potty breaks:) I am not going to complain at all about bedrest. It is teaching me patience. It is also making my muscles smaller. I have a lot more weight, as you can see, to carry around and not much muscle. But that is okay. Just to get showered for the day makes me want a nap:) I have been down for 7 weeks now. What a blessing. There are a lot of unknowns, and we will take it day by day!
